Temporal vision improved by 3 Hz (3 cycles/s). When measuring the entire temporal modulation transfer function, this improvement was 15%. This would facilitate faster reaction times, thus enabling quicker decisions (e.g., to swing or not). Even minor improvements in visual processing speed would be absolutely crucial to batters because they have a very short time (e.g., 100ms) to decide on a 95-mile-per-hour fastball.

Conclusion

There is firm evidence
that visual excellence is dependent upon optimum levels of Macular Pigment (MP). Conclusion

Visual performance in the normal human is less than ideal, and it has been shown that visual performance improves once chromatic and monochromatic aberrations are removed.
